Sometimes the shortest hikes are the best. Sunny day, breeze from the west, grass swaying, kites in the sky. Emily, Ramona, Beth, Gabe and I spent a wonderful afternoon at my favorite destination: Max Patch. As we were walking up the AT to the summit, we met a couple of section hikers, Cat and Cameron. Cameron was retching on the side of the trail. We made sure he was ok and offered a ride back to their car at Big Creek in the Smoky’s. A wonderful couple from Florida with a new found adoration for the trail. Perhaps the one thing greater than nature are the wondrous people that you meet along the way.
