Laurel Fork Falls to Bearcamp Creek Campsite
Doug and I started hiking at 6:15 am. I had not read very much on the terrain, and knew very little of what to expect. As we approached Lake Jocassee we heard barn owls hooting and answering, turkeys gobbling in the daybreak. Today is hard to put into words, for my words would surely not justify the momentous landscape of this section of the Foothills Trail. I can write the names of the places I placed my feet: Toxaway River, Heartbreak Ridge, Gorges State Park, Rock Creek, Cobb Creek, but it would be just names. I shall let the pictures speak for the beauty we experienced, with the hope that those that read this will one day venture to see it with their eyes.
Total mileage is 16.9 miles.
