Fall is almost upon us; for the leaves are starting to change and the weather is cooling. Graveyard Fields is a wonderful hike for families. The terrain is flat and there are several great waterfalls to explore. Emily told me to expect a lot of people on the trail, but this hike was inundated with hikers. It must be one of the most popular hikes around Asheville.
We started at the Graveyard Fields overlook on the BRP and hiked first to the Upper Falls via the Upper Falls trail. We returned and went to the Lower Falls, where we whittled sticks, stacked stones and put our feet in the water.
I know of no better place to be in the fall than the mountains of North Carolina.
Total mileage is 3.2 miles.
