For years I have spied a fire tower just off of I-26 outside of Unicoi and Erwin, Tennessee. Sunday, I resolved to finally hike to the top of it. Pinnacle Mountain Fire Tower sits atop Buffalo Mountain along a nice and very new trail. From the easily accessed parking area, it’s 4.8 miles one way to the summit. The trail is not difficult and the switchbacks are subtle in this delightful hike. I made sure to start relatively early, and was rewarded with a summit view all to myself.
There’s a rugged individualism to the trails I’ve encountered in eastern Tennessee, a great sense of wilderness pervading the terrain.
Total mileage is 10.29 miles.

Looks like a great day-hike, Jonathan. Nice view from the top!
