Foster Creek Trail

October 4, 2017

I’ve never said this before, but I would never recommend this trail for anyone to hike. From what I’ve gathered, this area was clear-cut two years ago. Prior to this, it was a lush natural area of white pine, laurel and hardwoods next to the Foster Creek (located off Foster Creek Road in the North Mills Recreation Area). Now it’s been decimated, with hardly any trees left. The quiet path turned into a logging road. I’m sure at one time this was a romantic .7 hike for couples, now it’s gone and the red dirt is all that remains. It’s sad.

The only reason I was here is because it is still on the list for the Pisgah 400 challenge.
