Tow String Trail

September 15, 2019

After camping at Spruce Mountain, I decided to grab another trail before heading back to Boone. One place I had not been to was the Tow String Trail. Sometimes referred to as the Tow String Horse Trail, it runs from Tow String Road to the Bradley Fork Trail near Smokemont Campground. The southern portion of the trail head is not difficult to find and the trail itself is fairly easy with only 272 ft. of ascent.

One of the best things about a hiking challenge is the exposure to trails one would not normally hike. This trail is for horses and contains no views. But with nature, if you look hard enough you are bound to find all kinds of beauty.

Total mileage is 5.52 miles.
